British actor Julian Sands vanished last Friday while hiking, and authorities in California have started looking for him again using the air.
But because of the bad road conditions, the ground search for Mr. Sands is still on hold.
The San Gabriel Mountains’ Baldy Bowl region, to the north of Los Angeles, is where the British actor was last spotted a week ago.
Near where he was reported missing, according to the police, they discovered his automobile.
Two days after he was reported missing, phone pings looked to indicate that he was moving, according to authorities.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Gloria Huerta told the BBC on Friday that there has been “no fresh information or witness information concerning his location since then.”
The ground search has not yet been able to continue owing to icy conditions and an avalanche threat, but the air search has resumed, according to Ms. Huerta.
The 65-year-old Mr. Sands is well recognized for his parts in hit movies and TV shows like A Room With A View, 24 and Smallville.
In the previous four weeks, as severe weather pounded the region,on 14 cries for assistance from climbers Mount San Antonio were reported to police in California.
There is “no fixed deadline” for the police to call it quits on their search for Mr. Sands, they previously stated.
After weeks of severe storms ravaged California, Mr. Sands vanished, causing US President Joe Biden to declare an emergency.
In the previous four weeks, police said they had responded to 14 complaints from Mount San Antonio, also known as Mount Baldy to locals, and had advised hikers to “stay away” from that region.
Even seasoned hikers are having problems because of how treacherous the terrain is, according to authorities. Another American hiker who vanished in the same mountains is also being sought after.
A mother of four who was an experienced hiker, according to acquaintances, died last week after falling more than 500 feet down Mount Baldy.
The actor’s family has aided authorities in their hunt, and other actors have expressed concern for Mr. Sands’ safety on social media.
In the year 2020, Mr. Sands claimed he was happiest “near to a mountain summit on a wonderful winter morning.” He has previously discussed his passion of mountaineering and mountain climbing.
Together with his wife, author Evgenia Citkowitz, he shares a home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of North Hollywood with their three children.
